A Spiritual Companion for Low Seasons

Releasing October 7

This book is a collection of contemplative word and image prayers for the season of depression. Justin and Scott, in going through their own seasons of depression, realized they were gathering poems, images, prayers, and songs to carry them through the deep work of these difficult seasons. They, in return, wanted to make something like that for others.... a collection of helpful things.

Ultimately depression is a sign post of some disconnection in a human life, and the process through the depression is a reconnection to that which makes us whole. IN THE LOW is offered as a spiritual companion for the difficult journey of reconnection in a human life.

The Low Show Tour Dates

None of us have a choice of whether or not we’re in the process of becoming. But we can become conscious of how we are being acted upon and how we can actively submit ourselves to a more redemptive process.

Join us for a multi-media, comedic, storytelling, teaching, art event that illuminates our pain and the process of turning it into something healing.

Lent In The Low

We spend time in The Low because we're human, not because we're broken. Sharing our low points, dark seasons, and sufferings is a beautiful way to be human together.

We are skipping beverages (other than water) throughout Lent and giving the money we'd otherwise spent to Sanctuary Mental Health.  Join us!

You can skip one per day
or one per week
or even just skip one.

What People Are Saying

As someone who has wanted to end it all in her own season of depression, and who accompanies many others in their own, In The Low is the gift I’ve longed for. Too many words, “helpful” prayers, and attempts to fix bruise and bind souls needing support and salve. Instead, this book gives just enough to make this moment, and the next, bearable. And, when you’re ready, it offers to help you with your load, to amplify your cries, and to reorient you to Divine Goodness. In the Low’s words and images lean into each other in a structure of support, reminding readers of the tender and terrible gift of being human, and point toward the One who makes all this humaning have meaning, after all. I will be reaching for this resource for years to come
— Tara Owens, Author and Spiritual Director
“Dark seasons aren’t optional—they’re the price of admission for being human. When my ticket gets pulled, this is the book I’ll always keep by my side. Its combination of simple words and reflective images makes it the perfect companion for navigating the lows that inevitably find us all.”
— Brit Barron, author of "Do You Still Talk to Grandma?"
